Acupuncture + Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) incorporates tools for well-being, such as acupuncture, to help the body heal and come back into balance. Acupuncture has been used as a therapeutic modality for more than 3000 years.  There are a wealth of anecdotal experiences documenting is clinical effectiveness for a variety of problems.  But only since the 1970's, as advances in understanding the physiology of pain developed, that scientists began to understand  the underlying mechanisms of acupuncture.  Over the last 45 years, the scientific and clinical medical communities have put forth a substantial of body of evidence to support the efficacy of acupuncture.

Hello, I’m Wen Zhang, a licensed acupuncturist. As a medical student in earlier years of study, I was unsure about the type of doctor I wanted to be. It could be a modern medicine practitioner, a traditional medicine practitioner, or involved in medical research. After a comprehensive internship across various departments, I witnessed the transformative success of natural remedies, especially acupuncture and herbal supplements, when focusing on the root causes. This has led me to the path of traditional medicine practice. My approach to well-being is to promote our innate healing potentials, allowing people to live their healthy lives without prolonged reliance on drugs or aggressive treatments.

On a personal note, I find joy in exploring both nearby and distant places, experimenting with new recipes, engaging in conversations with friends, cherishing peaceful moments with my husband, and visiting my beloved daughter in NYC.

About Hope

Hope is a graduate of The Ohio State University and of the Master’s Program at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine (AIAM) College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is an intensive, three-year Master's Program that includes over 2,170 hours of training in Chinese medical theory, acupuncture and basic biosciences.  She furthered her studies with advanced training at the Beijing Hospital of Integrative Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in Beijing, China. Hope is licensed to practice acupuncture in Ohio with a licensure issued by the State Medical Board of Ohio and a national certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Hope’s discovery of acupuncture occured in 2001, while competing in Thailand in the World Muay Thai Championship. She tore her rotator cuff during the competition and was told that her shoulder mobility would be severely limited without surgery and that she would never fight again. Determined to recover her body and continue her competitive career, Hope started daily acupuncture treatments on her torn rotator cuff.  Within two months, Hope had full range of motion in her shoulder.  The acupuncture had resulted in full recovery. Through this experience, Hope developed a deep appreciation for the healing power of Eastern Medicine and resolved to learn this ancient art to help others get back on track.  She now specializes in acupuncture to relieve pain, promote the healing of physical injury, and combat infertility issues.
