Acupuncture

Acupuncture is offered in conjunction with all of the below modalities, depending on the treatment protocol for the issue being treated.

Fire Cupping

The inside of glass cups are lit with fire to create a vacuum. The cups are placed on various areas of the body to promote increased circulation and movement of qi, providing a variety of healing benefits.

Suction cupping

Vacuum Cupping

Medical grade plastic cups create a vacuum through the use of a hand pump. This type of cupping is used when more precise control is needed on the amount of suction. The benefits of suction cupping and fire cupping are almost identical.

Guasha

Guasha is the scraping of the skin to release unhealthy elements from the scraped areas and stimulate blood flow and healing.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is the burning of a specific aged plant over acupuncture points. It can be used in conjunction with acupuncture or completely separately.

What To Expect

Before you arrive. It's best not to eat a large meal before coming in for your appointment. Arrive neither full nor hungry.  If you’re running on empty, a piece of fruit is a great pre-appointment snack! Visit the restroom before your session to ensure you are comfortable during your treatment.

What to Wear. Most clients find loose, comfortable clothing ideal to allow access to forearms,  lower legs, hands and feet. Depending on the course of treatment, we may need to access your back, abdomen or gluteus (i.e. to treat sciatic pain). Some clients bring along a change of clothes and slip intoyoga/sweatpants and a t-shirt prior to treatment.

After your appointment. You are encouraged to drink lots of water after your appointment and make sure to stay warm. Refrain from drinking alcohol 24 hours after the appointment for best results.
